Truliant Names 2018 Scholarship Winners
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 21, 2018) – Truliant Federal Credit Union recently awarded nine scholarships to exceptional student member-owners pursuing higher education goals.
“We were wowed by the outstanding range of accomplishments which this year’s applicants have achieved. For their high caliber work in their respective schools and communities, Truliant’s 2018 scholarship winners receive our congratulations and best wishes,” said Renee Shipko, community engagement supervisor.
Two decades ago, Truliant established scholarship funds to benefit member-owners seeking a post-secondary education. For 2018, Truliant awarded a total of nine $1,000 scholarships from the Fred J. Sarda Fund and the Clyde O. Padgett Fund.
Fred J. Sarda Scholarship Winners - $1,000 each
Each year, Truliant Federal Credit Union awards Fred J. Sarda Scholarships to member-owners graduating high school and planning to attend an accredited college, community college or university. The 2018 recipients are:
Bailey Caroline Botts, the daughter of Fawn and James Botts of McLeansville. Bailey attends Northeast Guilford High School. She plans to major in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Samuel Dana Nall, the son of Charlie and Tyra Nall of Pulaski, Va. A senior at Pulaski County High School, Samuel plans to attend the University of Virginia.
Jonathan Swanson Yonke, the son of Gregory and Dorothy Yonke of Cave Creek, Ariz. Jonathan attends Pinnacle High School. He plans to study environmental engineering at Duke University.
Heather Marie Dorow, the daughter of Cindy and Doug Dorow of Charlotte. Heather is a senior at Mallard Creek High School. She plans to major in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Rachael Brianne Dewey, the daughter of Thomas and Jeanette Dewey of Gastonia. Rachael attends Gaston Early College High School. She plans to study accounting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Kaitlin Marie Rose, the daughter of Angela and Benny Rose. She lives in Bessemer City and attends the Highland School of Technology. Kaitlin plans to major in Computer Science at Appalachian State University.
Marissa Rose Parker, the daughter of Clinton and Deborah Parker of Charlotte. Marissa attends Levine Middle College High School. She will study chemistry this fall at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Amelia Joy Locklear, the daughter of Hannah and Art Locklear of Huntersville. A home-schooled student, Amelia will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Clyde Padgett Scholarship Winner - $1,000
The Clyde Padgett Scholarship is awarded annually to a family member of a Truliant employee, retired employee or board member.
Grace Ann Lasarsky is the daughter of William and Melissa Lasarsky of Denver. Grace attends Lincoln Charter School. She plans to major in Business Management/Marketing at North Carolina State University.
